Our organizational strength comes from the active participation of over 7,000 individual and family members who belong to the state’s 23 local county Farm Bureau organizations. Maryland Farm Bureau exists in a federated structure. When you become a Farm Bureau member, you also become a member of 1) Your County Farm Bureau, 2) Your State Farm Bureau, and 3) The American Farm Bureau Federation. It’s a 3 for 1 membership!
No, Maryland Farm Bureau does not sell insurance or insurance products. However, we are proud heritage partners of Nationwide Insurance, offering our members preferred member pricing and financial services.
Maryland Farm Bureau is truly a grassroots organization. Our policy positions first get introduced by grassroots members to their county Farm Bureau. If approved by the County Farm Bureau, the policy then advances to the state Farm Bureau. At the Maryland Farm Bureau Convention, these policies get debated, amended, and voted upon by the delegate body, composed of grassroots Farm Bureau members from across the state. If approved, the language becomes part of our official policy, and is used to advocate for farmers in Annapolis and Washington, DC.
No, Maryland Farm Bureau is not a government agency or department. However, we do work with government by sitting on various agricultural-related boards and commissions, as well as advocating to government officials on behalf of Maryland farmers.
